40 days total lock-down due to corona virus

Covid 19 - 40 days lockdown on Modderbult

As President Ramaphosa announced a 21 day lock down of all business and movement, the family decided to relocate to the farm in the Free State and visit Melinda and Philip. After three weeks it was extended for another two weeks....we then stayed till after the weekend.

We all had to work, and Werner sorted out the internet, Elize bought a ....and three different cars took three different routes to the farm.

Day 0 = an almost 1000 km trek to Kleinvlei, and traffic on all the major roads were significantly reduced. There was almost no visible policing, except for n road block close to Venterstad.

Day 1 - 27 Maart 2020
The day started with the USA officially becoming the nation with the highest statistics, surpassing both Italy and China. South Africa has 927 cased, with 2 deaths.

We all went to work like a normal business day. Ruanda and Werner left for "office" at 8h15, and the rest of us started working soon after. 21 days in one place will be a long and hard trek, but we will keep a diary, and maybe one our kids will be able to appreciate this big effort that the world is making.

Modderbult will be home for the foreseeable future. We started our lockdown with some cycling and was able to do a 40km ride over fairly heavy going terrain.

Day 4 - Monday 30 March 2020.

Did a hike to Damgat in search of Springbok and pig. Fields are beautiful after plenty rain over the summer season. All the dams are full.

Day 5: Tuesday 31 March 2020 - Did the afternoon ride along the Knapdaar road. Last bit really tough on the downhill, road in poor condition. Starting to get use to the high altitude.
