Although the West Coast National Park flower season usually takes place during August and September, many times the beautiful natural glories can already be seen by the end of July and still during early October (depending on the weather conditions). Flower-enthusiasts (and everyone else in between) flock to the nature reserve during these two months of the year to see carpets upon carpets of brightly coloured and breathtakingly gorgeous flowers as well as an array of other interesting fauna and flora found in the park. (If lucky, guests may spot bontebok, duiker, eiland, zebra, ostrich as well as many other animals and birds whilst visiting.)
Although the Postberg section of the park serves as a major highlight for many as this section is only open to the public during the flower season, it must be noted that the entire park is a nature-lovers dream with its vast areas to explore and  wide array of activities to indulge in such as hiking, biking and birding trails.  Postberg is on the top left hand side of the map, and during non-flower season, extra money needs to be paid for that section.
It is however, worth the money with some beautiful rock formations and excellent views over the Langebaan Lagoon.
We had breakfast with Lwarence, Jannie, Lily and Ouma Hessie.
Lily brought her clay, and we designed a bicyle and a shark attack.

STAMOUERS PIETER JANSZ SWANEPOEL EN MARIA SIBELLA SACHS  1.1 Europese herkoms van Pieter Jansz Swanepoel Pieter Jansz Swanepoel en Maria Sibella Sachs is die stamouers van die talryke Swanepoel-familie in Suid-Afrika. Uit die beskikbare bronne blyk dit dat Pieter Jansz Swanepoel in 1699 aan die Kaap die Goeie Hoop aangekom het (KAB: VC 39, Vol2: 207 /231). Daar kon egter geen inligting oor sy Europese herkoms in die Kaapse argiefbewaarplek gevind word nie. Uit Pieter Jansz Swanepoel se naam kan 'n mens aflei dat sy vader Jan Swanepoel geheet het. Die afkorting Jansz staan vir Janszoon, dit wil se Jan se seun. 'n Ander leidraad wat kan help om sy Europese herkoms te bepaal, is die feit dat hy die plaas waarop hy sedert 1709 in die Land van Waveren weiregte gehad het en wat hy in 1716 in eiendom ontvang, Nieuwmunster genoem het (KAB: J 184; De Wet 1964: 77-78; Leibbrandt 1988: nr 82).
